Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is a group of islands in the Caribbean Sea. It lies to the west of Barbados, south of Saint Lucia and north of Grenada in the Winward Islands of the Lesser Antilles. The main island of Satin Vincent has an area of 344 square kilometres and Kingstown is its capital. Apart from the main island St. Vincent the largest and most populated Grenadines islands are Bequia, Mustique, Canouan and Union Island. Since 1979 it became an independent Sovereign State within the Commonwealth.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is a parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy with Queen Elisabeth II as head of state. The Queen is represented in the country by the Governor-General.
Control of the government rests Control of the government rests with the elected prime minister and his or her cabinet. The current Prime Minister is Ralph Gonsalves. The Parliament is formed only by the House of Assembly with 21 seats: 15 representatives elected by popular vote to serve five-year terms and 6 appointed senators.

Tourism

St. Vincent and the Grenadines evokes visions of exotic and idyllic island life. It offers eco-friendly tourism uncluttered by tourist exploitation. While it is famous for its many islands and beaches and sailing, it also offers a lush tropical rainforest, refreshing waterfalls and hiking throughout. In 2021 it took the number one spot for “Best Islands in the Caribbean” and third in the “Top 25 Islands in the World”.
